• Danza Eterna

Composed for Joseph Alessi in honor and memory of the great Chick Corea who always believed in the
    eternal dance.

"I have been honored to perform the initial performances of the Chick Corea Trombone Concerto and will always be immensely grateful to the great Chick Corea.
One action or event always spurs on other reactions.
I was introduced to John Dickson through the creation of the concerto, and since that time I have gotten to know John and now call him a great friend. Danza Eterna celebrates the life and writing style of Chick, and John knows well his musical vocabulary.

  • Daybreak

    See video

    Written for Joseph Alessi.
Mr. Ferro sucessfully portraits certain periods of the day. He vividly captures Dawn (Daybreak) and sets the music so that we can picture the sun just starting to come up in the morning. Picture birds chirping, and very little sound. The piece progresses towards the sun gaining strength and height for the corona and finally the alba. I great piece for your recital combined with his other composition "Sunset"

  • Die Ehre Gottes aus der Natur

"Die Ehre Gottes aus der Natur" (The Glory of God in Nature) is taken from Beethoven's Gellert Lieder. "I came across this score when I was a student at Yale and quickly realized its potential in the trombone world. The block chords and strong unison harmonies make this piece perfect for the power and beauty of the trombone.
